Looking for some speedy recipes to help you fight off colds and flus? Here are a few of our favourite tasty cold busters!
Start your day the right way
There’s no better way to start your day than with a juice that packs in a little sweetness and just enough goodness to help you to battle through if you’re feeling a bit miserable or just as something to help keep the colds away.
Apple, Carrot and Orange juice
Ingredients – 2 carrots, 1 apple and 1 peeled orange. Blitz all together in juicer and drink immediately. This delicious juice is a great one for all the family and it will keep in the fridge for up to two days – if it lasts that long!
Something to warm you up
There’s no better lunch to protect you from the pains and aches of colds and flus than a hearty bowl of vegetable soup. Pack your soup up with any vegetable you have in your fridge – just remember to always add an onion and potatoes as that’s the base of any soup. We like to add chillies to help clear out our sinuses and because adding spice is a well - known way to naturally boost your immune system.
1 large potato, 2 carrots, 1 large onion, 1 low salt stock pot, 1 head of broccoli, 1 handful of spinach, 1 chilli deseeded
Boil the potato, carrots and onion in 1 pint of stock for a few minutes then let to simmer for ten minutes. Add the broccoli, spinach and chilli and simmer for 5-10 minutes then blitz and enjoy!
Some days we just want something quick right? Whether you like them fried or poached, eggs are a great source of zinc which will help you to snuff out your cold in record time. Or next time you’re feeling peckish and a little bit miserable throw together your favourite omelette – quick, handy and a real cold buster. Simply chop up your veg in a frying pan and add the eggs!
